There are a number of reasons why I recommend al of my couples to go for a pre-wedding, or engagement, session. It's a great chance to get some professional shots of the two of you before your wedding, but more importantly, it gives us a chance to really get to know one another before the big day. The last thing a bride wants when she is sat with a head full of rollers, no make up on and perhaps feeling nervous about the day ahead, is to be worrying about having her photograph taken. After a pre-wedding session, the awkwardness in front of the camera disappears, and the photographs are filled with personality!
Paul and Sarah's shoot at Baden Hall is a fantastic example of this. Upon my arrival, we had a quick chat about their plans and I had a little look around the rooms, and then it was time to begin the shoot. Straight away, Sarah expressed her nervousness and dislike at being in front of the camera. She reckons she "isn't very photogenic"! After ten minutes or so, both Sarah and Paul visibly relaxed and we had lots of fun getting shots around the farm - Baden Hall is a working farm and fishery - climbing hay stack, driving tractors...all in a day's work!
The last few shots of the session were the winners for me though. Take a look and see what you think :)
